Attention Anglers:

State Stocks Broodstock for the First Time

On April 28 approximately 4,500 brown and rainbow trout from the state’s Pequest Trout Hatchery will be stocked in Merrill Creek Reservoir. Most of these trout are 10 – 12 inches when stocked, but this year 90 –100 of these trout will be large brown trout broodstock, measuring a whooping 19 – 25 inches. These big trout have been tagged with a metal jaw tag to evaluate angler success. Anglers who are lucky or skillful enough to catch one of these tagged trout should report their catch by calling the phone number imprinted on the tag. Anglers need to provide the tag number, the date the fish was caught, and the length of the trout in order to be eligible for a certificate and prize awarded by the Merrill Creek Reservoir.
